Ayyyye!! Sunday morning already here and I'm still happily awake (??!!)..Did you make it out today? Even though it was still chilly it was bright outside, I hope you enjoyed it!!
Even though I am able to work a pretty self-made schedule I still like to work the occasional Saturday. There is something about the weekend relaxation that makes work seem less "worky" so today I switched it up. Since my mood had been pretty great and tasks seemed less pressuring I wanted to complete some on Saturday instead of making a longer night during the week. I know some people are moaning at the thought of working on the weekend, but I really find I am most productive when I have the choice to start and stop at my leisure. Surprisingly, I worked an hour longer than I intended! What mindframe do you need to be in for work to not feel like work? How often do you actually help yourself out by getting into that mainframe?
This afternoon I went to a networking event called "Women Can Network, Too!" at the Brooklyn Tea and Coffee House on Douglas Ave. The event was hosted by Andrea Imafidon and Barbara Alicea (they can.be reached at [email protected]), the two are bringing their vision of uniting women through networking to life! We were able to talk to each other, get and give tips and expose some of our fears. I admitted that the thought of networking in a large setting is intimidating, but as the afternoon went on I started to feel more confident. All it really took was to let go of wanting to have all the answers.
Truth is, networking is just like anything in life involving other people, you can only prepare so much. You have to be genuine, knowledgeable and being nervous is fine-but don't let it stop you! I felt that the intimate setting and the smaller group size made it easier to talk and connect with the women there. Honestly, a room full of women will always be an experience lol but today it was a great one! I won a raffle (notebook and pen) and was able to recruit a mentor for a child, woop woop!!
The networking event was a first floor me and I was so glad I went, I had been letting my fear hold me back. I will probably attend the next event they're hosting on April, maybe you'll come?! Even if you don't come, what are some things you have been wanting to do? What do you have to let go of so you can start?
For me, when I am honest about what was holding me back it was ME! When I decided that being happy was more important than being "normal", right or surrounded by people my life changed. I could've decided to keep chasing those unrealistic goals, but I have already tried that! If you are chasing something that isn't bearing fruit take some time to think about why you're chasing it. Your thoughts will always dictate your actions, switch up ONE thought today!
Did you guys stick to your Lent/Borrow Season goals? How are you feeling about things? Take it one day at a time, enjoy your sleep! Now for bed#! Talk tomorrow..#SwitchUp #BorrowSeason
