It's 525am and I'm awake...all the way awake for the last hour. If you know me, you know there are few things that wake me this early.
I'm up and at a real loss today and just about everyday this week so far. I am troubled by the way people treat themselves, each other and our responses to those in need. Sickened doesn't do what I'm feeling justice-I don't think I have found the appropriate word yet.
What I have found though is that too many of us believe the misinformation we are being fed. Not even just about what is happening with law enforcement, but the craziness that is the beauty industry, sexual rights and the basic desire to be able to say "I am me and that's good enough." Why are we so afraid to admit that maybe what we believe is bullshit.
Maybe it's time that we stop selling and buying all these myths out there. Progress is talked about as if we have finished with our goals and it's okay to lay down and give up. WE ARE NOT THERE! This post is vague because a hundred examples come to mind and I think it's best you figure out what speaks to you the most.
Too many people are staying quiet on matters because they believe they have unsavory opinions-say them anyway. People need to hear as many sides of a subject as possible. So in an effort to encourage some questioning on the part of my readers I pose this challenge: Pick a topic that you've been hearing about, doesn't matter what. Then take a half an hour and read information on ONLY the opposite side of your opinion. If you are pro-gun read some anti gun information, against something read information that supports it. This is not a lesson in changing your mind, this is a lesson in gathering good information before you come to a conclusion. Reading only information that supports your thoughts is only going to cement what you think. Dare to challenge yourself and your opinions. Some of them are wrong anyway and that's not a jab that's a fact. You're a human, nothing you think is 100% correct so what's the harm.
If you are feeling brave enough post what you find to your social media account, text the link to.a friend, write about it in your blog. However you do it is fine, but do it! Knowledge is power and we need to share it, it's one of a few things that gets more powerful the more people have it. Enjoy your day and your reading, talk soon!!
